Perfectionism blows. Seriously. The struggle of being perfect is real. Perfectionism can be detrimental. It can stifle your dreams, lead to inaction and cause anxiety. Research shows it can cause depression and lead to suicide. On the other hand, striving to be perfect can be a great thing. It can propel us to go beyond our best. It can break records. It can be a wonderful thing. Perfectionism is thin line. It’s important to know the difference, Here are 3 strategies how to stop being perfect and start living a happier life.

1. Just Do It.

I love the saying “Entrepreneurs are flying the plane while building it.” It is so freaking spot on. Perfectionism can hold us back on doing what we want. Publishing that blog post. Applying for that job. Raising your hand. When perfectionism stops us from taking opportunities, it need to be put in check. Taking action breaks the perfection paralysis and the fear that goes along with it.

2. Be You.

Growing up, all I wanted to do was fit in. My nickname “Annie” was much easier to say than “Indrani”. My nickname trickled through school, college and into the workplace. When I reclaimed my birth name, it was a proud moment. I accepted myself. I knew I was different and for the first time, I was proud of it. Being authentic to yourself is much more powerful than trying to fit in.

Be You. Authentic.

3. Embrace Imperfection.

We were born to be perfectly imperfect. If we were perfect, we would have nothing to learn. Yeah, it may be cool for a bit, but then the rest of your life would be a snooze fest. Let’s be real. We were put on this beautiful world to experience life. The good and the bad, the ups and downs. We are here to rise when we fall as stronger and smarter beings. It’s a beautiful thing.

3 Simple Strategies to Overcome Guilt

Guilt is a wasted emotion. I wish I could banish it from the universe. Why? Because guilt can eat away at you. I suffered my ulcers with I had feelings of guilt, stress and worry. That’s when I got serious and started to look for ways to handle negative emotions in a positive way. Here are my 3 Simple Strategies to Overcome Guilt.

1. Get Out of Your Head.

We are our worst critic! As women and especially Mom’s we have these crazy high standards for ourselves. We need to be easier on ourselves and realize that we were not born to be perfect. We are perfectly imperfect! So, when you have feelings of guilt, ask yourself, if you best friend came to you with the same situation, what advice would you give her? Would you tell her she was a horrible person and was justified for her guilty feelings? Or would you reassure her? If you select the latter, then you are like most mom’s. We give empathy and love to everyone else, but we are so tough on ourselves. Well, from today, let’s change that! The advice we give to our friends, we need to give to ourselves. So, give your a break and the benefit of the doubt. Focus on the things that make you amazing!

How to Overcome Guilt

2. Transform it into a Positive Inspired Action.

This is my fav! Take those pesky guilty feelings and turn it into action! Let’s say you missed an event at work & your little one is bummed. Take a step back and see what steps you can take to ensure you can attend the next event. For instance, do you have simple, effective systems in place to create time for the most important things in life? If not, now is a great time to incorporate that into your life. Another inspired action is to take your child out and spend some one on one time together. No electronics and be present. Kids are so darn entertaining and it is such a great opportunity to take a break from everyday life. So turn those guilty emotions into action and create fun memories. Talk about a Win/Win!

3. Future Map It.

Close your eyes and visualize your life in 5 years. This event that you have guilt feelings over, does that play a factor into your future? If the answer is no, then there is no point fussing over it now! This really is effective in putting things into perspective.

Have you dealt with fear when it comes to your business, a new challenge or life in general? I think we all have. The thing is fear is good! It gives us warnings of danger. Fear can also inspire action. That’s amaze sauce, right? So, fear can actually be a good thing. Fear becomes an issue when it prevents us from what doing things we want to do. When it gets in the way of our dreams, fear is something we need to conquer. I’m going to give you 3 Tips to Overcome Fear Now.

I must say, I’ve danced with fear more times than I care to admit. But, here comes the silver lining every time that nasty fear creeps up, it gets easier and quicker to overcome and move forward. So, with that, I am excited to share with you my personal tips I use to conquer fear.

Here are 3 Tips to Overcome Fear Now!

1. Start with the Mind.

Our mindset is the foundation to everything. Fear can magnify reality, so go to the opposite extreme. If you are nervous about public speaking or for your upcoming interview (which is ridiculously common) take a deep breath and visualize the outcome you want.

This is a game changer. You are now focused on the positive result rather than the fear! Holla!

2. Take Action.

When we take action, we stop the feelings of fear. Whether it is creating a strategic plan or making that video you have been procrastinating on, just do it baby! We cannot allow the fear to take over and paralyze us in moving towards our goal. Create a plan, take small steps and celebrate each achievement! The first step is the hardest. It’s like stepping into a pool. Yeah, the water is cold. We know it. We dread taking that first step, but when we do, we quickly get used to it. Then it is easier to take the next step and the one after that. Life is the same way doll!

Kick fear where the sun don’t shine and replace it with feelings of accomplishment. Boom!

3. Reflect daily.

This is amaze sauce! Yes, I made up “amaze sauce”, you will come to understand, and perhaps. one day love my “Indranisms”.

I practice Gratitude every night. It puts me into the perfect positive vibrations and I can connect with the highest part of me. I created a custom Daily Gratitude Log because I could not find one in the marketplace that inspired me.
